Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji has been left baffled as to why he was not handed a fair opportunity at Stamford Bridge.

Djilobodji joined Chelsea over the summer on a four-year deal from French club Nantes but the defender hardly ever featured for the Blues and his only appearance came in the Capital One Cup against Walsall, where he was on the pitch for a single minute.

Unsurprisingly, Djilobodji has now left Chelsea after joining German side Werder Bremen on a loan deal till the end of the season and upon the completion of the move, the defender has gone on to state that he still does not know why he was not handed a fair chance in West London.

The 27-year-old said: "Really I do not know. I gave everything. But the coaches have decided it. For me, it is also an incentive to continue to work."
