Werder Bremen coach Tomas Schaaf hopes to close the signing of Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro.

"I hope we get Pizarro," said Schaaf. "Basically, we are considering where we can strengthen our team and what players can help us with their quality in the long term."

However, the main issue blocking the transfer is the size of the fee as Bremen feel they are being priced out of the market.

"We can only do what we can afford," added Schaaf in the Bild newspaper. "We are doing all we can, but if we cannot sign any more players, then I cannot change it either."
