Wenger will spend in January so Arsenal can win elusive title – Hartson

John Hartson has explained that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will spend more money in the January transfer window to boost his side's title credentials.

Arsenal have started off their Premier League campaign in very positive fashion and the Gunners currently find themselves joint top in the table after eight matches.

On current form, Arsenal do look like genuine contenders for the title and ex-Gunners star Hartson has gone on to state that manager Wenger will look to strengthen his squad on the winter window in order to further enhance their title chances.

Hartson told the Daily Starback stage at 'BT Sport Score': “There's money there. If he's in and around the top three come January and they just need that other player that'll cost them £30m to £40m, I think they've got the capacity to do that.

“Wenger knows that he has to get closer to the title. Arsenal will challenge this season and they're going the right way about it. I don't think he feels he'll be there forever and he wants to go out on a high. That's why I think he went big in the summer and spent around £90m."

Arsenal signed Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi, Lucas Perez and Rob Holding in the summer window with the first two in particular having a positive impact thus far.
