Wenger thrilled as Arsenal produce vital win at Tottenham

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was delighted with his side after they recorded a tough 1-0 over Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday.

The Gunners needed to produce a victory to continue to place pressure on league leaders Chelsea and it came in the form of an early thunderbolt from Tomas Rosicky.

Wenger's side were then able to hold out the home side at White Hart Lane to go within four points of the Blues and even with second-placed Liverpool after a couple of tricky fixtures in the FA Cup and Champions League.

The Frenchman told Sky Sports: "To go to Bayern, to come here, to beat Everton in the cup, it demands a lot of focus and a special spirit and that is what we have shown again today.

"It makes the next game very interesting. The win for Liverpool at Man Utd, and the fact that Man City won yesterday, it makes it very interesting.

"From time to time, it's important to know you cannot always be super-dominant in a season. And to win games when you're not is important."

Wenger will take Arsenal to Chelsea next weekend in his 1,000th game in charge of the north London club.
