Arsene Wenger has admitted he has been pleasantly surprised Alex Iwobi's introduction to senior football.
The 19-year-old Nigerian winger notched his fifth-straight Premier League start in Thursday night's 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion which prompted words of praise from Wenger who feels the youngster has shown maturity beyond his years so early in his league career.
"He is improving game after game because he is just coming in," said the Frenchman.
"That is another positive from the season. He has shown quality game after game and he is surprising.
"His consistency is surprising, because he has only played youth football and suddenly he plays at that pace. I'm a bit cautious with him sometimes, but overall what he produces is a football player."
The appearance was Iwobi's 10th in the league this season which takes his tally this campaign to 18 in all competitions.
