Arsene Wenger has been stating that Joel Campbell will not be leaving Arsenal before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners boss hopes the 23-year-old Cost Rica international stays despite spending the second half of last season on loan in Spain at Villarreal.

"At the moment he is here and personally I would like to keep him," Wenger tells the club's website.

"I will have to sit down with Joel because I rate him highly as a player and personally if he stays here I am very happy."
