Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits they beat PSG for Mesut Ozil in August.

Arsenal paid a club record £42.7 million for the German.

"I had already approached Ozil in 2010, before he went to Real Madrid," said Wenger. "Back then it was between us and Real. He let me know when he chose Real, but we were also a good option.

"When Paris Saint-Germain came in last summer, we had the advantage that I had already spoken to him."
