Wenger: Red card for Arsenal midfielder Flamini would have been harsh

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that a red-card for midfielder Mathieu Flamini would have been harsh following his two-footed tackle on Bournemouth's Dan Gosling.

The incident occurred in the eighth minute of the game when the score was still 0-0. Referee Kevin Friend only showed a yellow to the Frenchman for his dangerous tackle which Wenger feels was the correct decision.

Wenger told Sky Sports: "Honestly, live I thought it was a foul for us, because I thought he was first to the ball.

"Was his foot high? Certainly, because the referee gave a foul. Was it a red card? I thought it would have been a bit harsh.

"He continued to play, which is good that he didn't get injured."
