Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is willing to make Robin van Persie the highest paid player in the club's history.

The Sun says Wenger is ready to smash his pay structure to stop his captain moving to Manchester City.

He said: "I've always supported him, even in the hardest of times.

"Now I hope he'll end his career at Arsenal."
