Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he's angry they lost out to Real Madrid in the battle for Raphael Varane. The French defender chose Real ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United two years ago.

"We need to ask why he did not play with us," rapped Wenger.

"When he was at RacingLens, we had to get him."

Wenger added: "Varane has shown (Jose) Mourinho that he can count on him. His next challenge is dealing with the media, especially now that he is in the French national team. I'm happy for him with the way he has developed."
