Wenger: Possible early return for Arsenal crock Ozil

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Mesut Ozil could return from a knee ligament injury sooner than originally estimated. The German FA estimated the playmaker's recovery from a partial rupture of the outer band of the left knee joint would take up to 12 weeks.

But the Frenchman said: "He is out for a while now, I think at least six weeks."

But Wenger said the German did not reveal any problem at the time.

"I didn't even know about it," he said. "At half-time, just before we went out, the physio told me he had a little pain in his knee, but it's not bad and he wanted to go on.

"I told him 'if you don't feel well tell me and I will take you off straight away', but he never did and I left him on because we needed to find a goal."
