Wenger intent on balancing squad over busy period for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is looking for a balancing act with his squad during the busy period for Arsenal over the next few weeks.

The Gunners have made a decent start to their campaign and although it is very early in the season, the next three weeks could potentially determine whether or not the North Londoners are realistic challengers for trophies this season.

Arsenal are certainly capable of enjoying a good run of results but with their squad currently very light due to a host of injury problems, manager Wenger has reiterated the importance of balancing his squad in terms of team selection during the busy period.

Ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League opener against Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, Wenger said: "It is more the global programme we have to absorb in the next three weeks, rather than one game. I knew since I [found out] our schedule that I have a squad of 20 players, all experienced and every decision I make is very difficult.

"It is quite easy to change two or three players, [more] than it was in years before because they are all at a very good level. I know the same team cannot play every single game over the next three weeks. I try to keep the balance right and give a little breather to players who need it."
