Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists Cesc Fabregas is a long-term prospect for the Gunners.

It's been another 24 hours of intense speculation in Spain over Real Madrid and Barcelona's pursuit of the Arsenal captain.

Wenger, though, insists: "We have a long-term plan to be a winning team - and Cesc Fabregas is part of that.

"We have worked very hard with all of our players, and they all have a very long contract commitment."

The Arsenal manager added: "Here we have sport as priority number one.

"We can keep thinking like that because we have a healthy management and are not in financial need.

"I have always fought for the club to be in a strong financial position because I feel in any decision we make must have the footballing interest of the club first."
