Wenger insists Arsenal will take different tact in Champions League this term

Arsene Wenger admits his Arsenal side will operate differently in Europe's premier club competition this season.

The Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage - for the fifth year running - last campaign when beaten 3-1 by Monaco in the first leg.

Despite a 2-0 win in Monaco in the return bout, the North Londoners were sent packing as a result of being too impatient which is something Wenger feels will change in their pursuit of continental glory this time around.

"If we missed one game last year, then it was our home game with Monaco," Wenger said ahead of Wednesday night's group stage opener against Dinamo Zagreb.

"We were not patient enough and we wanted to make the difference in the first game.

"We know we have some way to put that right, that is a regret of the season last year. We know as well that we can show that we have learnt from that.

"This drive [to win the competition] is immense. It has never been done at Arsenal and we were very, very, very, close.

"On the other hand, I have been long enough in the job to know you have to be realistic and know that you have to put hard work in."
