Wenger giving no assurances on star Arsenal duo Ozil, Sanchez

Arsene Wenger admits the Arsenal Football Club is much bigger than a pair of key players.

Most of the talk surrounding the Gunners this week is that of the contract negotiations involving Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

The North London club are attempting to secure the star duo to lucrative long-term deals but with the German playmaker and Chilean attacker yet to come to an agreement, Wenger has opened the door to potential exits once their current deals expire.

"I can't give any assurances. Eighteen months is a long time in football," he said.

"Arsenal is a big club. It is not one or two players who will make the difference to the club.

"What is important is always to take care of the values of the club and not to depend too much on one or two players.

"The history of Arsenal is bigger than that."

The Frenchman added: "We have a lot of work to do but they have 18 months left and are completely committed.

"They will stay for 18 months and, hopefully, much longer.

"We will try to extend their contracts.

"The less you talk about it the better it is.

"We live in a world where Sanchez and Ozil have a lot of money and choose where they play.

"We will do the maximum of what we can for every single player."
