Arsene Wenger could only use superlatives when describing his Arsenal team on Wednesday night.
The Gunners produced a convincing 3-0 win over Olympiacos in Greece in their final group stage game to seal their place in the Champions League Round of 16.
A hat-trick from Olivier Giroud will grab the headlines but the overall display from the North Londoners was something that sat very well with the boss.
"I'm very proud of the team, we had to be right on the mental side and the tactical side. We had a complete team performance, we had a perfect game," he said.
"It's a fantastic achievement for us because we have lost players. Not many people gave us a chance but we are a real team.
"We needed great character tonight and these kinds of performances will only make the team stronger."
Regarding the team's poor start to their European campaign, Wenger felt it was a extremely strong comeback, with a particularly brilliant performance when they needed it most.
"Of course, nine time out of 10 you are out (after losing two games early) and we needed something special to switch it on and to come back like we did," he added.
"We needed a complete team performance. This team is really a team and it shows tonight."
