Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's multi-lingual skills helped convince Mesut Ozil to leave Real Madrid for the Emirates on Monday.
The Daily Express says a phone conversation in German between Wenger and Ozil persuaded the 24-year-old to leave Real Madrid for the Emirates on deadline day.
PSG had a more lucrative offer for Ozil turned down, while Manchester United are thought to have tried to revive a deal for him after being offered his services earlier in the summer.
But by then Ozil was convinced that his future lies at the Emirates, citing Wenger as a key reason he went back on his words from last week stating he would stay at the Bernabeu.
