Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Nicklas Bendtner is keen to remain with the club.
The 25-year old Danish striker was heavily linked with a summer transfer away from north London with the likes of Crystal Palace and Hull City showing considerable interest.
Nothing eventuated during that transfer window and Bendtner is now free to talk to clubs regarding a free transfer at the end of the season but Wenger believes he will stay.
"It is January 1 so we cannot stop him [talking to clubs abroad], but he says he wants to stay here," he said after Bendtner scored in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Cardiff City.
"If he is focused on staying with us and his job, he is a great striker."
