Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists they can now hold onto their better players.
Wenger reckons the days of Arsenal being vulnerable to their big-spending opponents are over.
He said: "What is tiring is to lose the players to (Manchester) City or somebody else. For me it is the same.
"But we are less vulnerable for sure. For years we have lost top players without being able to buy top players.
"In the last two years we have bought Ozil and Sanchez. Five years ago we would have lost Ozil and Sanchez.
"We can compete better today to buy a top player on the market."
