Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes they proved wrong their critics last season.
Despite finishing well away from the prospect of finishing with silverware, Wenger was proud of their campaign.
"The positive I will take first is from the fact that nobody expected us at all to be in the top four at the start of the season," Wenger told Arsenal Season Review DVD.
"The fact that we finished third in the Premier League and qualify directly for the Champions League is a positive overall.
"The second thing I would say is even though everyone did write us off in the League, we still came back. We have shown strength of character, consistency in our motivation and tenacity.
"We finished with a total of 75 points. If you look back at the number of points we lost in the last month I believe we had 86 in our locker with everybody available.
"So we had basically the potential to be champions this year. And so that is overall the positives."
