Arsenal bounced back to winning ways on Thursday night but that did not stop manager Arsene Wenger from expressing his regret.
The Gunners drew their previous two fixtures with West Ham United and Crystal Palace despite leading throughout both games only to end up sharing the points with both sets of London rivals.
Those two draws saw Arsenal drop off the pace in the title race which Wenger admits knocked the stuffing out of his squad prior to their 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium.
"We have regrets. In recent games, we had two draws when we should have won the games several times, you pay for dropped points like that," he told Sky Sports after Alexis Sanchez buried a first-half double against the Baggies.
"The quality of our game was as good tonight as it has been in recent games, but we did not always get maximum points for the quality of our performances."
The result sees the Gunners move back to third position where they sit two points ahead of Manchester City but 10 off league leaders Leicester City.
