Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been accused of lying to supporters.
The Frenchman recently indicated injured striker Danny Welbeck could be back after the international break when in fact he will be sidelined to Christmas after undergoing surgery.
Arsenal failed to bring in a new striker during the summer transfer window with the idea - and the fans' expectation - that Welbeck would be back sooner than later which has irked Peter Wood, author of the Le Grove blog.
He told the Daily Mail: "Wenger knows it would have put huge pressure on him to go out and sign a striker.
"For some reason, he seems to be going out of his way not sign the players we need - what is that reason? It's left us in a bad position and another season looks certain to pass now without winning the Premier League or challenging for the Champions League.
"We've got a good squad, we know that, but we needed to kick on this summer and we have not done that.
"If he thinks they are good enough to win the league then you have to question his judgement. No other manager with a real competitive streak would have done this.
"I can't understand why, at 65 years old, he doesn't want to at least take a chance on signing the players we need to challenge for the league – like what Sir Alex Ferguson did with Robin van Persie in 2012.
"The whole point of moving to the Emirates was to compete with the biggest clubs. We have the cash to do that but, for some reason, we refuse to."
