Wellington Silva eligible to play for Arsenal after landing Spanish passport

Arsenal will finally be able to call on the services of Wellington Silva after the Brazilian was granted a Spanish passport.

Silva joined Arsenal from Fluminese back in 2011 but had been prohibited to play for the club as he had not acquired a British work permit. During the time Silva spent various loan spells in Spain and is currently at La Liga side Almeria.

However, Silva has finally been cleared to play for Arsenal as he has acquired a Spanish passport - a process which took nearly four years to complete.

Silva was understandably very pleased and revealed the good news on Twitter along with a picture of his brand new Spanish passport.

"The good thing is slow in coming, but arrives with the greatest satisfaction in the world. Spanish nationality!!" Wellington tweeted.
