With the loss of star striker Shane Smeltz to a rival club, Wellington Phoenix need to secure some strike power ahead of the upcoming A-League season.
Already the New Zealand club has signed former Adelaide United goal scorer Diego and are looking to add a few more before the 2009/10 campaign.
"There's a strong possibility a minimum of one will be signed from our recent trip to England. That could happen in the next 10 days," coach Ricki Herbert told The Press.
"We're hopeful of getting two, but one's more across the line than the other at this point. We are targeting two strikers. That's the club's number one priority."
The Phoenix begin their pre-season training this week with a series of sessions being hosted by local clubs.
