Jeremy Brockie is determined to help New Zealand make history by qualifying for a second straight World Cup.
The All Whites are preparing to take on New Caledonia in Dunedin on Friday in the final round of Oceania qualifying and the Wellington Phoenix striker hopes to get the job done in order to gain a six-point lead in their four-team group.
That would put New Zealand, who were undefeated at South Africa 2010, into a playoff against the fourth-placed CONCACAF team later this year for the chance to make it to back-to-back World Cup finals for the first time in NZ football history.
"We are looking forward to trying to obtain that play-off position," the A-League's joint leading scorer told FIFA.com.
"We will be focused for the New Caledonia match and hopefully we get the job done, and there is no reason why we can't.
"Growing up representing your country at a World Cup is something that you always wanted to do. And that is not something that has come along often for New Zealand, so it [South Africa] was an experience I will never forget.
"Now we are in a position to put a strong case forward to achieving back-to-back World Cups, which would be another piece of history for New Zealand football."
