Wellington Phoenix pursue Brisbane Roar's Kruse

Wellington Phoenix are in hot pursuit of Brisbane Roar youngster Robbie Kruse.

The 20-year old has been offered a deal by the New Zealand club and now it is up to Kruse to accept the offer.

"The ball's now in Robbie's court," Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata said yesterday.

"It's a good package we've offered him. By the end of this week we'd like to have an answer.

"If we don't hear anything we need to move forward."

Kruse said he was still weighing up his options and was taking into account the faith Roar coach Frank Farina has showed in him through his off-field dramas.

"The coaching staff, particularly the gaffer (Farina), has stood by me, and hopefully I've earned their respect back," Kruse said last night.

"I'm just weighing up what I have to do and what's best for Robbie Kruse now."
