Wellington Phoenix owner Serepisos donates to Queensland flood victims

The plight of those affected by the Queensland floods has touched the heart of Wellington Phoenix owner Terry Serepisos.

The plight of those affected by the Queensland floods has touched the heart of Wellington Phoenix owner Terry Serepisos.

For the Phoenix’s game with Newcastle Jets at Westpac Stadium on January 30, Mr Serepisos has made 5000 tickets available to raise money for the Queensland Flood Relief Fund.

Half the tickets will be sold at the Wellington Phoenix shop in Hunter Street. There will be a special Phoenix Members’ window between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday January 26 where members will be able to purchase a maximum of five tickets on presentation of their membership card. The balance of tickets will then go on sale after 1pm to the general public. Tickets will cost $5 with all proceeds going to the Flood Relief Fund.

The other 2500 tickets will be on sale, also for $5, at Wellington Racing Club’s Wellington Cup Carnival on Saturday January 29 at Trentham with a maximum of 5 tickets per person.

“Seeing on television what those people were going through really got to me,” Mr Serepisos said.

“It hit home again when our match against Brisbane Roar had to be postponed because of the disaster.

“Every cent from those tickets will go to the fund.”

Mr Serepisos said he was grateful to Westpac Stadium for their co-operation in the promotion.
