Wellington Phoenix hero Eugene Dadi admits he has no idea how he managed his spectacular debut goal on the weekend. Dadi struck twice for the Nix, including with a wonderful overhead effort, to help them to a 3-1 win over Brisbane Roar.

"It just happened," he said. "I don't know. I can't tell you. The ball just came in and that was the only thing I could do.

"I'm just lucky that it went in. If you ask me to do that next week, it will be impossible. Every goal is great, even if it is a tap in, but of course I am happy with this one and the way that it happened."

Nix teammate Andrew Durante said: "For athletic ability, he's 36 years old, to be able to do that is pretty impressive."

Coach Ricki Herbert also said of the former Tranmere Rovers star: "That's in his locker. I don't think every player has that, but he certainly does."
