Wellington Phoenix delighted with capture of Ward
Wellington Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert has welcomed the signing of midfielder Nick Ward from Melbourne Victory.
The 25-year old former QPR man has signed with the New Zealand club for the remainder of the 2010/11 A-League season and Herbert feels he is a great addition to the squad.
“Nick’s a good addition to the squad and adds depth into the midfield in a more attacking role,” said Herbert. “He’s the sort of midfielder who gets more advanced (up the pitch) and he has a great engine.
“In the Victory’s premiership season in 2008/09 Nick was quite prolific scoring goals for the club and played a major role for them, so bringing a proven goalscoring midfielder will certainly add something for us.”
