Wellington Phoenix are confident they will have a reserves team which will compete in the New Zealand Football Championship.

Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata expects a decision to be made at Thursday's New Zealand Football board meeting.

The opportunity to field a reserves team in a quality competition would be fantastic for the development of younger players on the Phoenix playing list.
