Wellington Phoenix boss Herbert insists they are in town for maximum points

Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert has made it quite clear that his finals-chasing side will go out to win against league leaders Brisbane Roar tomorrow.

The New Zealanders take on the Roar at Gold Coast's Skilled Park in the rescheduled Week 24 fixture, which was originally set for Suncorp Stadium on the weekend past.

Herbert is well aware that the Roar will provide his side with a difficult task but says there is no point coming for a draw when points are required to make the finals.

"We are here with the aim of getting points. Why would we be thinking otherwise?" he said.

"That is the mindset we have to take into the game. We have been playing well in recent weeks and need to continue in the same vein. Some players will need to be readied for Sunday's game against Newcastle but you can't look too far forward.

"Points on the board are important and we will be putting our best foot forward against Brisbane because at the end of the day we could go back home and get beat by Newcastle (on the weekend)."
