Wellington fans immediately recognise Ifill

Wellington Phoenix recruit Paul Ifill is already being recognised by fans.

The England-born Barbados international recently signed with the Phoenix from Crystal Palace and is already making an impact on 'Nix fans.

"I have been spotted a couple of times already," he said.

"Both times the people who came up to me asked if I was Paul Ifill. They were nice and wished me well. It's nice when people recognise you. At home in England when people speak to you in the street they've usually got something derogatory to say!"

The 29-year old also said he was warming to his new home and was keen to get along to watch the All Blacks.

"Wellington's beautiful. I've had a bit of time to take a look around. The people are friendly and I'm happy to be here. There looks to be a lot of great restaurants and cafes and it seems a really cultural city," he added.

"I'd love to see an All Blacks game live while I'm over here; rugby is a sport I follow and my girlfriend is a big fan too.

"The All Blacks will be disappointed after last weekend's loss, but I'm picking them to balance the ledger this weekend."
