Wellington and Sydney bosses exchange words

Sydney FC coach John Kosmina will be asked to explain his words and actions aimed at Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert. Just after the final whistle of Friday night's match at the Sydney Football Stadium, Kosmina was heard to have said, "You got a lucky break" to Herbert in reference to the penalty that was awarded to the visitors prior to full time which handed them the 2-1 win.

Herbert was also incensed by comments made by Sydney number two John Filan.

Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata wants a please explain from Sydney and said he would contact Sydney CEO Stefan Kamasz in relation to the incident.

"I haven't had a chance to sit down and go through it with Ricki, but the media has said quite a bit about it and Ricki's already made a comment about it, so I might just have a quiet word to Stefan and just to let him know that we weren't happy with John [Kosmina]," Pignata said.

"The FFA will look into it if they want to, but it's only words and everyone was emotionally charged at the end of the game.

"That aside, I'll definitely chat to Stefan. We get along well and I'll tell him we weren't impressed by how 'Kossie' spoke to Ricki after the game.

"It wasn't as if Kossie went out and hit Ricki in the head, it was more words, and Kossie's that type of guy. There's enough out there for people to make up their own minds, and if the FFA want to check it out further, they can follow it through but we'll be letting it sit for now."
