Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck admits they let themselves down against FC Basle.
United drew 3-3 with their Champions League opponents.
Welbeck, 20, said: "We need to get back on the training pitch and put things right.
"Throwing away a two-goal lead just isn't like us.
"The lesson is not to be careless and to carry on playing the game the way we started because we threw it away.
"We need to get our defensive mentality right.
"It's not like Manchester United to give three goals away at home, so you could say it's a wake-up call. There was some carelessness creeping in so we need to correct that."
