Weir admits Man Utd boss Moyes urged him to take Sheffield Utd job

New Sheffield United boss David Weir says Manchester United manager David Moyes and Rangers legend Walter Smith have made themselves available to him.

Weir vowed to tap into their vast knowledge - to help the Blades' promotion bid.

He said: "The two of them have been fantastic.

"They've got massive experience in management and are both of the same mindset and told me to call any time I want. I'll be more than happy to do that to get there.

"It's my job and I'll do it the way I see fit, but having those guys on the end of a phone is a fantastic asset for me. I'll definitely use them.

"Moyesie told me 'Sheffield United are a great club, and this is a great opportunity for you. You're ready for it - now go and enjoy it'.

"He taught me a hell of a lot about what's needed to be a top manager and has been a massive influence in my career.

"What he does best of all is teaches players how to win - and that is what I want to do here."
