Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson saw his side's winless league run stretch to 10 matches after a goalless draw at Bournemouth, but also so much to be positive about. Bournemouth's Michael Symes missed a second-half penalty, but Megson said: "Not too many teams come to Bournemouth and get a point and we were much better and the way we went about our work was very pleasing."

He added: "It's the first time we've kept a clean sheet in 12 games (since Walsall on November 23) but we had the chances to win it.

"We had a great opportunity after only five minutes when Isaiah Osbourne was through in front of goal and shot straight at the goalkeeper from only five yards out.

"And in the second half we had a couple more. Okay, they missed a penalty and hit the upright, but their goalkeeper had to make far more saves.

"It can be difficult to get results when you've been on a run like ours, but if we keep playing as we did here they will come. There were plenty of positives. Liam Palmer had a great debut and Tommy Miller worked his socks off up front."

Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury agreed his goalkeeper Shwan Jalal deservedly won the man-of-the-match award.

Bradbury said: "We were off the pace in the first half, but turned up after half-time and had chances to win the game, particularly from the penalty Symes missed.

"But our goalkeeper had a great game and made a string of fine saves. He was named player of the month (for January) beforehand and was named man of the match after and that says it all."
