Webster hoping for Rangers green light

Rangers defender Andy Webster is close to being cleared to sign permanently at Ibrox.

The Scotland defender's decision to quit Hearts a year before his contract ended will be debated at the Court of Arbitration for Sport today and tomorrow.

Webster said: "It's been a long time coming. The situation has dragged on for quite a while now. The next person that does this will probably have everything sorted in a week and with me it has been over 16 months.

"From my point of view, I have tried to concentrate on football and let the clubs and FIFA sort things out. Whatever decision is made does not really affect me too much because Wigan will pay the fee that is set to Hearts.

"Hopefully that will then lead to my future at Rangers being sorted out but that will come in the weeks ahead."
