Webber has point to prove with Portsmouth move

New Portsmouth striker Danny Webber is looking to prove himself as a Premier League player with Pompey. The former Sheffield United striker left the Blades in the summer for the South Coast.

"It was a no brainer for me really because, despite their current position in the table, this club is going in the right direction and everything is settled down now after the takeover," he said.

"Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, so when the opportunity came round it was a very easy decision for me to make."

27-year-old Webber scored three goals in the top flight during the 2006/07 season for Sheffield United, and wants to prove to himself that he can do better.

"I think I have more to prove to myself than anyone else because it doesn't matter who you are, you are always going to get people who are fond of you and others that have doubts.

"So, it is important for me to prove to myself that I can improve by playing alongside better players, at a higher level.

"Playing with quality players day in day out can only make me a better player and hopefully it can be a platform for me to show what I can do."
