Weather will not deter Fowler making move down under

Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler has admitted to liking the heat and humidity of Townsville as he considers an A-League move. New franchise North Queensland Fury currently has Fowler as a guest in Townsville and are hoping the ex-England international will sign on as their marquee player.

"It's been very hot here (about 35 degrees) and about 95 percent humidity and asked him if he could handle it," Fury boss Don Matheson told The World Game.

"Robbie replied: 'I honestly really like it'.

"So, we're happy with that because there was a fear it wouldn't suit him.

"We were on the back foot not knowing how he would adjust and we feel a lot more comfortable now on that score.

"Football is all Robbie knows. He told me he doesn't want to be anywhere else (in terms of considering retirement) and it's obvious he has the hunger and desire to keep on playing.

"I asked him where he gets the drive from still and he just said it's all he knows and he still loves the game."
