Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is clear that now is the time to save what could turn into a disappointing season.

The Reds have begun poorly, dropping winnable games and find themselves languishing in 8th spot on the Premier League table.

They also dropped an early Champions League game and now Benitez wants things to turn around as they prepare to meet Lyon tonight and then tackle Manchester United next weekend.

"Rather than saying this is a week that could kill our season, we have to look at it as a week that can transform out season," Benitez said.

"My obligation as manager is to be like that, because we know this is a week that can change everything again for the positive.

"This squad has more quality than before and as soon as we play well in one or two games, everyone will be thinking 'maybe he's right.' This week could be very positive for us.

"If we beat Lyon things will be better, and if we then beat Manchester United we will only be four points off the top of the table, so it is clear that we have to remain positive, and be confident."
