Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra hit back at claims that the side was too old and slow to win the Scottish title again this season.
Yesterday, the Algerian centre-half helped 'Gers clinch their third straight title with a 5-1 away win at Kilmarnock just weeks after there were jibes from the Celtic camp indicating that the Ibrox club were not up to it this term.
But Rangers came through with the goods when it counted and Bougherra was delighted to lift the trophy with his older and slower teammates.
"It is fantastic as everyone knew our situation. We didn't have a big squad and we had many games to play, including in the Champions League and Europa League," he told the official website.
"Even so, we never complained and got on with our jobs. We did our best and in the end we were the champions.
"You know, I remember hearing a Celtic player - I think it was Kris Commons - saying they were younger, faster and better than us.
"I can tell him now that we are maybe older and slower but we are the champions once again."
