Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum believes that the players owe it to the club's supporters to perform better.
The Magpies have endured a torrid start to their Premier League campaign and are currently languishing at the foot of the table.
Despite their struggles, the Toon faithful have been unwavering in their support of the team and now summer arrival Wijnaldum has stated that it is the responsibility of the players to repay the faith of the fans by putting in better performances on the pitch.
The Dutch international told the Chronicle: "I have been really impressed. We must give them something back now. They have supported us from the beginning and the away games too.
"When we look over to the away fans it's always full so we know what we have to do for them."
