We have achieved nothing until we win as regularly as O'Neill - Celtic's Lennon

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is not getting carried away with Saturday's Scottish Cup triumph.

The Hoops managed to salvage something from his first full season as boss by taking out the Cup with a 3-0 win over Motherwell at Hampden Park in the final match of the Scottish season but he insists that the club cannot relax until they begin winning as much as they did under Martin O'Neill in the early 2000s.

"I will be comfortable with it when we start winning championships as regularly as Martin did. Listen, it's not about me," he said.

"As Martin once said, it's about the people who pay and the people who play.

"The players are ones who go through all the sweat, the toil, the blood.

"I'm very pleased for Scott Brown to pick up his first trophy as captain and I hope it is the first of many for him.

"I was very happy at the end. But I'm more happy for the players and the fans. It's a great end to the season and we played well on the day.

"I've just told them to cherish the moment, remember how they feel and hold on to it because you never know when you will win again or get to another cup final.

"Football is a cynical game and regardless of playing well or not you are judged on what is in the cabinet. Thankfully we've got a cup the players deserved.

"Congratulations to Motherwell who made a great contribution to the final and made life difficult, but I thought we were thoroughly deserved winners on the day.

"We also played in the style we have played in all season. Hopefully, winning this trophy will give them all a lot of confidence."
