We had to rest Williams after Australian duty - Middlesbrough's Mowbray

Middlesbrough's Rhys Williams was rested for Tuesday night's clash with Nottingham Forest because of Australian duties last week.

The 23-year old Boro midfielder played twice for the Socceroos recently and manager Tony Mowbray said he was unavailable for the clash at the City Ground which his side lost 2-0 because of an ongoing pelvic injury.

"Rhys's injury has been coming for few weeks and playing two games in quick succession at full-back for Australia made it difficult," Mowbray said.

"He was unavailable to play, he was too sore and we have to rest him and get him back soon.

"We've been trying to manage him well and he's used his quality and brain and generally doesn't have to work too hard. But he's been away with his national team and running up and down the wing."
