Manuel Pellegrini was disappointed his Manchester City side were beaten in their final home game of the 2015/16 Premier League season.
City led twice but were pegged back on both occasions to eventually draw 2-2 with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, in what Pellegrini admits was not the result his players deserved.
Sergio Aguero gave City an early lead in the eighth minute before the Gunners levelled through Olivier Giroud just minutes later.
Kevin De Bruyne then had the home team in the ascendency early in the second half prior to Alex Sanchez's leveller with just over 20 minutes remaining as City has to settle for a share of the points, much to the chagrin of Pellegrini.
"It was not the way we wanted to finish the season at home," said Pellegrini.
"We deserved to win this game, we played very well for 90 minutes, but in football you must score the goals.
"We were a bit unlucky with some of the chances but we could not win. We were playing against a very good team, but in the first 45 minutes only one team was in it. We just couldn't keep our advantage."
