Hull City defender Michael Turner is confident the players at the club have what it takes to be competitive in the Premier League.

The Tigers managed to stay aloft after coming up from the Championship despite winning just one of their last 22 games and Turner is hoping for further improvement on their good early start next season.

"We showed during the early part of the season that we can perform at this level," he told the club's official website.

"That good start is what has kept us in this league.

"We know that we have to improve on the second half of the season because it wasn't good enough, but everybody has learnt a lot and I'm sure the manager will bring in some new players to help the squad.

"Hopefully we can kick on next season."
