Gold Coast United striker Joel Porter believes the teams attack is good enough to make up for an undermanned defence when they step onto Etihad Stadium this Saturday evening.
The starting line-up for the clash with league leaders Melbourne Victory will be very different to normal with a swag of suspensions and injuries taking its toll but Porter is confident that United can make up for their defensive deficiencies by attacking.
"I feel like we're getting back to our best up front now so we believe we can cause problems for most teams. Melbourne have an excellent defence and it will be a challenge for us, but it's a challenge we are looking forward to," Porter said.
"It's certainly going to be a difficult game for us because Melbourne are top of the league and they will want to stay there. But we go into every game trying to get a win and this one is no different, despite the situation we have with players missing."
Porter added that the depth of the Gold Coast squad was good enough to deal with a situation like this.
"We're down in numbers defensively but we've got some excellent youngsters who can come in and do a job for us; that's what having squad depth is all about," Porter said.
