West Ham United's co-chairman David Gold insists the club is very sorry to lose goalkeeper Robert Green.

The England number two goalkeeper failed to agree terms on a new deal with the promoted Hammers but Gold is confident he will be a great signing for whichever club is lucky enough to get him.

"We did our very best and we're very sad that we have lost Robert," Gold told Sky Sports.

"We wish him well, and wherever he goes I'm sure he will be a great servant to that club."
