We are making sure Valencia is 100% - Portland Timbers’ Spencer
Portland Timbers head coach John Spencer has revealed that the club is making sure new signing Jose Adolfo Valencia is fully fit after he was absent for a second consecutive day of pre-season training.
The 20-year old Colombian forward was signed as the Timbers’ second Designated Player in December and Spencer says his absence from the training ground is only because the club want to ensure he is 100% before he gets into the full rigours of off-season practice.
"When you invest that much money in players, it's important that you cross all the 't's' and dot the 'i's' and look at every bone in his body.
"For us, we're making sure that everything is 100 percent good with him.""He's doing thorough medicals," Spencer said.
