Watford have started negotiations with Tottenham over the possibility of signing Emmanuel Adebayor next month, reports the London Evening Standard.
While Spurs released the 31-year-old from their squad in September, they are still paying him the £100,000 a week owed on his contract.
Watford won't pay Adebayor's wages in full but are talking to Spurs over paying a percentage, believed to be no more than 50 per cent.
Spurs would prefer if he moves to a side that will agree to meeting the sum in full and Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa and Galatasaray have all been linked with his signature.
